COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Following are post-practice comments from Maryland football coach Ralph Friedgen.
Overall comment on practice:
"I thought we made some progress today offensively. Both Chris Kelley and Scott McBrien made some improvement. I was pleased the way we pushed through today. We had a teaching day and slowed things down. It was hot and the players still had to focus, but we had a decent practice. Todd Wike went down with heat cramps, and Matt Crawford has a virus and can't keep anything down. He hasn't been practicing a whole lot. That's been slowing us down. We have some key guys who aren't. On the one hand, we've been practicing a lot of young kids and sometimes it is frustrating early, but later on it may pay dividends. We are getting more young kids reps now than at any time I can ever remember. Today they did some good things."
On Curome Cox's injury:
"It will probably be 10 days to two weeks before the incision heals. Then they feel they will be able to cast it up and he'll probably be able to play. That's the best-case scenario. If they put a pin in it, it would probably be 4-6 weeks.
The Terps are slated to work out Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. and 7:10 p.m.
