Maryland In ACC Openers

All-Time Series vs. NC State
The Terps' series with NC State dates back to 1950 when Maryland lost the inaugural Southern Conference match-up 3-0 in Raleigh. Maryland holds the advantage in the all-time series, 36-19-4.
Maryland is on a five-game win-streak against the Wolfpack and defeated NCSU 3-0 last year at Ludwig Field. The last Maryland defeat came in 1997 when the Wolfpack downed the Terps 1-0 in College Park. The last time NC State beat Maryland in Raleigh was on Sept. 18, 1994. That decision was a 4-3 win for the Pack.
The last six meetings in the ACC series have been shutouts.
Current Terps vs. NC State
The current Terps have enjoyed immense success against the Wolfpack, outscoring NC State 10-0 since the arrival of the eldest Terps on the roster.
Last year, Maryland beat NC State 3-0 on Nov. 11, earning its first ACC win on the strength of goals from A.J. Herrera (Albuquerque, N.M.), Robert Sjolund, and Jason Arnold (Fairfax Station, Va.).
The following Terps have scored one or more points in their career's against NC State: Abe Thompson (1 game, 2g, 0a), Seth Stammler (1 game, 1g, 1a), Siba Mohammed (1 game, 1g, 1a), Bryan Vitagliano (2 games, 1g, 2a), A.J. Terps Back in Top 10
The University of Maryland men's soccer team is back in the national rankings this week at No. 10 in the Sept. 9 poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Seven of the Terps' opponents this season are ranked in the current poll, including the team Maryland defeated on Wednesday, the No. 8 Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds.
Maryland was also ranked 10th in the NSCAA preseason poll, but fell out of the rankings after a one-goal loss to then-No. 20 Kentucky at the Virginia Soccer Classic during week one of the season. This past weekend, the Terps raised their record to 3-1 after defeating Penn State 2-1 and Virginia Commonwealth 4-1 to win the Maryland/FILA Classic.
UM vs. Ranked Opponents
The No. 10 Terps' meeting with No. 8 Loyola was the second time this season Maryland has met an opponent ranked in the NSCAA Top 25. The first time then-No. 20 Kentucky upset the Terps 2-1 at the Virginia Soccer Classic when Maryland was ranked No. 10. On Sept. 11, however, the Terrapins earned a commanding 3-1 win over then-No. 8 Loyola, also when Maryland was ranked No. 10.
