
Terps In 3rd Place At JMU Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. -
University of Maryland's men's golf team will begin Sunday's final round of action at the James Madison Invitational in a tie for third place after an impressive 36-hole performance on the tournament's opening day Saturday.
The Terps, who struggled in their opening tournament 12 days ago at the Cleveland Golf/Kiawah Island Invitational, carded rounds of 286-281 for a one under total of 567. The Terps are tied for third place with Richmond, six shots behind second place JMU and 18 shots behind tournament leader Penn State.
Junior Tim Kane will begin Sunday's final round at the 6,517-yard Lakeview Golf Course in second place with a 36-hole total of 135. His seven-under total featured rounds of 65 and 70 on the par-72 layout. Kane, whose 65 in the first round was tied with teammate John Moheyer for the best round of the day, trails Penn State's Jim Fuller, who is at 10-under 132.
Moheyer, the Terps' senior co-captain, is in fifth place with a 36-hole total of 138. He fired rounds of 73-65.
Other Terp scores include freshman John Eades (75-72-147), Dan MacDonald (73-75-148) and Bobby MacWhinnie (76-74-150).
Maryland finished third in this tournament a year ago.
