DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Top-ranked Duke showed no lingering effects Thursday night from one of its toughest games of the season.

Iciss Tillis scored 19 points to lead six Blue Devils in double figures as Duke beat Maryland 101-52.

Alana Beard and Sheana Mosch added 15 points each to help the Blue Devils (18-0, 6-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat Maryland (8-10, 2-5) for the eighth time in nine meetings.

The Blue Devils were coming off a 78-67 overtime win at North Carolina on Monday, but they shot 59 percent and outrebounded the Terrapins 41-23.

Duke also shot 9-for-20 from behind the 3-point arc and took a 44-18 scoring edge in the paint.

"The Carolina game was a turning point for us," Duke coach Gail Goestenkors said after her Blue Devils picked up their 30th straight league win. "We hadn't played with much passion or focus, and that game gave us a chance to get back on track."

Michele Matyasovsky added 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting for Duke, and reserves Jessica Foley and Wynter Whitley scored 11 apiece in a balanced effort.

Reserve freshman Chrissy Fisher scored 13 points to lead Maryland, which lost its third straight game and shot just 34 percent. The Terrapins committed 24 turnovers, which led to 28 Duke points.

"With their athleticism, they can really turn up the heat on you defensively," Maryland coach Brenda Frese said. "Inside, outside, they have a lot of depth that really wears people down."

Only once did Duke seem to lose focus. The Blue Devils jumped to an 18-6 lead only to see Maryland score 11 unanswered points. Goestenkors called her only timeout with 10:47 left in the half.

"Play defense! Let's get with it!" she screamed.

Terri Daniels nailed a jumper to pull Maryland to 20-19 with 8:39 left in the half, but Duke took control with a 17-2 run in the final 6:20 of the half. Tillis had seven points in the run to the horn as Duke took a 37-21 lead at the break.

Maryland missed nine of its last 10 shots and committed eight turnovers during the run.

"We needed that," Matyasovsky said of the timeout. Goestenkors "wasn't very happy with our defensive intensity or our focus, and we did come out with a more effort after that."

Things got worse after the break, as Duke shot 68 percent in the second half. Mosch, who was 1-for-4 in the first half, went 5-for-5 in the second half.

Duke closed the game with a 15-3 run, ending with Vicki Krapohl's 3-pointer with 23 seconds left. The Blue Devils outscored the Terrapins 64-31 in the period.

Maryland's Renneika Razor, who averaged a team-leading 16.1 points coming into the game, had just eight points on 1-for-6 shooting.

"Obviously, it was an amazing game for Duke," Frese said. "And obviously, the way they shot the ball tonight was tremendous. Obviously, we have a long way to go."
