Harper Paces Terrapins in Florida

DESTIN, Fla. - Senior Marie Harper led Maryland with a second-round 73 on Saturday, leading the Terrapins with a 24th-place finish individually at the Chrysler ACC/SEC Challenge women's golf tournament hosted by Florida State.
Sunday's final round was cancelled due to inclement weather and tournament officials used the 36-hole totals from Friday and Saturday as the official tournament results.
Harper (West Point, Va.) covered the par-71 Raven Course just 2-over on Saturday's round after posting an 80 on Friday. Her 36-hole total of 153 tied her for 24th with seven other players.
Maryland played consistently as a group, as all five Terrapins finished within five strokes. The Terps finished ninth as a team at 311-307-618. Maryland was seven shots behind host Florida State and only eight shots out of seventh place, as Alabama finished at 610.
Freshman Jessica Reno (Wilmington, Del.) finished in a tie for 31st for the Terps, leading her teammates with an opening-round 75 and following with a 79 for a 154 total. Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) posted rounds of 79 and 76 to tie for 35th at 155, while Kate Stepanek (Guilford, Conn.) was tied for 41st at 157 after a 78 and 79. Katie Redeker (Pepper Pike, Ohio) was tied for 45th after rounds of 79 and a 36-hole total of 158.
Duke placed all five of its players among the top six in the tournament, easily winning the team title. The Blue Devils had identical rounds of 276 to finish at 552 as a team, 32 strokes ahead of second-place Florida.
Elizabeth Janangelo of Duke was the medalist, finishing at 8-under-par 134 following a second-round 65. Teammate Anna Grzebien was in second individually, six shots behind.
Maryland's women's team concludes its fall schedule on Nov. 3 and 4 in the Edwin Watts - Palmetto Intercollegiate at Kiawah Island, S.C.
