COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The men's cross country team will travel to Bethlehem, Pa., this weekend for the 30th annual Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University. The competition, which takes place on the Goodman campus, will feature six different races throughout the day on Saturday. The first race, the men's collegiate invitational (8K) will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the women's collegiate invitational (6K), the men's open (8K), the women's open (6K) and high school boy's and girl's races (5K).
Last year at Paul Short, the men's team put in a strong performance, finishing 17th out of 24 Division I and II teams. Then-sophomore Mike Fleg (Clarksville, Md.) was the top Terp performer, finishing 43rd with a time of 25:33.14-a minute faster than his Invite time in 2001.
"This is a very big, very competitive race," said Head Coach Trent Sanderson. "We're looking to sharpen our skills and really see who can step it up for us."
Results from the meet will be available on umterps.com following the competition Saturday afternoon.
