COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Head Coach Sasho Cirovski
On his team's play against Georgetown:
We showed a lot of heart, a lot of character and we found a way to win. I'm very proud of the way our guys responded to a couple of challenges in that game. I give Georgetown credit for fighting all the way through. They are a very good team. They have a history of beating some top teams, but I'm glad it wasn't us tonight.
On Scott Buete and his goal:
Scott has a history of scoring big goals. He doesn't score that many, but he scores big goals for us. He's a winner and tremendous leader of that team. He sniffed out were that ball was going to be and placed a hard low shot.
On getting the opponent's best game:
We've created a nice stage here for people to come and perform on and we're getting people's best games. Tonight we were controlling the game, they got the penalty kick call and the game changed a little bit. I don't think we gave them a chance in the flow of play--they scored two goals on set pieces--and that's what happens in this game. But our guys kept their composure, battled and rose to the occasion to find a way to win.
Senior midfielder Sumed Ibrahim:
On his play against Georgetown:
I just felt good tonight. The past two weeks I've been feelling good, I have my legs. I am just trying to come out and help the team as much as I can.
On the identical goals:
I saw Kenney with the ball, and they weren't marking me so I was wide open. So I knew if I could beat those guys to the spot I would get the ball, and he served the ball pretty good and I was right in there to get the goals.
On Sunday's game against UConn:
UConn is a great team. Every year they've been great, and beating a team like that would mean a lot for us.
Senior midfielder Scott Buete:
On Georgetown's comeback:
We felt good in the first half and we thought it was going to be 4-0 at the half. That one goal of their's just turned it around and we weren't able to get back into it that half and pull away, so the game just kind of went on and they got that other goal and it put us on our toes a little more. There was a little more urgency. We just were going to concentrate on our chances and work a little harder.
On the game:
We're not always going to come out and play our best, and they are going to come out and battle. You just have to expect these kinds of games.
On UConn: It's going to be another big game for us. We are going to have to prepare well for them and we have to work on some things. We are going to have to come out with a lot of intensity. With us being at home that should help us, we just need to come out with a win.
