LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Allison Carney finished in the top 15 runners at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships in Lock Haven, Pa. Saturday to guide the Terps to an eighth place finish. The sophomore frontrunner, who has paced the Terps much of the season, finished in 14th place in the field of 176 runners with a time of 21:10 in the 6,000-meter run.
Georgetown won the team competition, with 56 points. Princeton (78), Villanova (98), Penn State (104), West Virginia (118), Penn (237), American (259), Maryland (273), LaSalle (289) and Pittsburgh (293) rounded out the top 10.
While Georgetown and Princeton earned team bids to the NCAA Championship at Waterloo, Iowa, four individuals guaranteed themselves spots at the meet as well. Keira Carlstrom of American, Molly Landreth of Penn State, Megan Metcalfe of West Virginia, and Ioana Parusheva of Villanova earned bids. If any of those athletes' teams gets an at-large bid to the national meet, the next-highest individual finisher whose team did not earn a bid to the national meet will assume the spot.
Treniere Clement of Georgetown was the meet's individual champion, finishing in 20:02. Emily Kroshus of Princeton (20:06), Carlstrom (20:08), Landreth (20:09), Cack Ferrell of Princeton (20:12), Metcalfe (20:19), Parusheva (20:20), Tara Struyk of West Virginia (20:30), Nicole Lee of Georgetown (20:34), and Marina Muncan of Villanova (20:41) rounded out the top 10.
Sophomore Danielle Siebert also finished in the top 50, coming in at No. 39 with a time of 21:52.
The Terps return to action Saturday, Nov. 22 at the ECAC/IC4A championships in Bronx, N.Y.
