Football Parking Guidelines -- Virginia Football

The University of Maryland has developed a comprehensive parking plan to accommodate the University's academic class schedule and the needs of our football fans.

General Information

Fans are encouraged to arrive on campus between 5:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

Classes will be held, making it necessary for students to park in lots that are normally dedicated to football fans during a Saturday football game.

AVOID THE ROUTE 1 BELTWAY EXIT. Fans are encouraged to use alternative routes (see additional page) from the Beltway, including New Hampshire Avenue (Exit 28B) and Kenilworth Avenue (Exit 23).

Byrd Stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

Parking lots will be open for entrance at 5:00 p.m.

Day-of-game parking is $8 per car, $32 per RV.

Metro will be open until 1:30 a.m. (Friday morning).

Please listen to 1640AM for specific stadium parking information.

Parking on Route 193 (University Blvd) allowed except on median. (Please use designated crosswalks to cross Route 193)

Friends and family are encouraged to meet off-campus and proceed to the game in one vehicle. This will help ensure that parking is available for students and faculty attending classes and for football fans attending the game.

Fans without season-parking passes will be directed by uniformed parking attendants to the first available parking space not held for season-pass holders.

Recreational Vehicles without season passes are not encouraged and will be directed to an out-lying lot.

VIP Terrapin Club Members with Lot Z, Lot AA, Lot 1d and SDG permits

A space will be held for all fans with Lot Z, AA, 1d and SDG permits until kickoff, as with all home games.

While the Department of Transportation Services (Campus Parking) will make every effort to hold the assigned-numbered space, it cannot be guaranteed for this Thursday night game.

Lot 1 & Lot 2 permits

Lots 1 & 2 will be used by students before 4:00 p.m.

Lots 1 will become "exit only" for students after 4:00 p.m. to provide sufficient parking for football fans.

Lot 1 permit holders must follow the directions of the uniformed parking attendants to the first available space.

One parking space per permit.

Permit holders cannot "save" parking spaces for friends. Permit holders wishing to park together must arrive together on campus.

Mowatt Lane Garage, Terrapin Trail Garage & Regents Drive Garage

Space will be held for each parking permit until 6:30 p.m.

After 6:30 p.m., parking in these garages will be first-come, first-served.

Entering & exiting campus may take longer than usual.

Recommended Alternate Routes to Use On Game Day

Inbound to College Park (From Northbound 95 and points South)
1. Take exit 23 from the Beltway (MD 201-Kenilworth Ave. South)
2. After approximately 0.3 miles, follow the signs and make the right exit onto Route 193 West.
or 3. Drive approximately 2.5 miles on Kenilworth Ave.(201 South) Make a right onto Paint Branch Pkwy. and drive 1.7 miles to the Intersection of Paint Branch Pkwy and Route 1. Cross over Route 1 and enter campus through the main gates. Follow event signs.

Inbound to College Park (From Montgomery Co. and Northern Va.)
1. Take exit 28 from the Beltway (New Hampshire Ave.)
2. Proceed south on New Hampshire Ave. to Adelphi Rd.
3. Turn LEFT on Adelphi Rd. and follow to Route 193.
4. Turn LEFT on Route 193 and follow signs to the event.

Outbound from Lots Z and 1
1. Proceed STRAIGHT on Valley Drive.
2. Make a RIGHT onto Campus Drive.
3. Turn RIGHT onto Adelphi Rd.
4. Follow Adelphi Rd. for 2 miles.
5. Turn RIGHT onto New Hampshire Avenue for Ľ mile to I-495/95.
6. Estimated time to I-495/95 - 14 min.

Outbound from Stadium Drive
1. Proceed into the LEFT lane of Stadium Drive.
2. Turn LEFT onto Route 193 (University Blvd.).
3. Turn RIGHT onto Adelphi Rd.
4. Follow Adelphi Rd. for 2 miles.
5. Turn RIGHT onto New Hampshire Avenue for Ľ mile to I-495/95.
6. Estimated time to I-495/95 - 14 min.

Outbound from Main Gate
1. Follow Campus Drive through the Main Gate and proceed straight ACROSS Route 1 onto Paint Branch Drive.
2. Proceed STRAIGHT on Paint Branch Drive for approximately 1.7 miles.
3. Turn LEFT onto Kenilworth Ave.
4. Follow Kenilworth Ave. for approximately 2.5 miles and large signs will direct you to I-495/95.
5. Estimated time to I-495/95 - 10 min.
