
Terps Earn Academic All-District II Honors

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday the 2003 Academic All-District II Men's Soccer Team, including in the ranks Maryland stand-outs Seth Stammler (Gahanna, Ohio) and Domenic Mediate (Southlake, Texas).
Stammler, a senior finance major, holds a cumulative 3.894 GPA through seven semesters of study at Maryland. The Richard H. Smith School of Business, where finance is housed, is currently ranked No. 17 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Out of the classroom, the defenseman has started all 17 games this season, anchoring the Terp defense.
Mediate, a junior kinesiology major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.269 through his first two and a half years at Maryland. The forward has posted three goals and two assists in 17 games this season for the Terps.
To be eligible for the Academic All-District II team, athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a 4.00 scale. He must have reached the sophomore athletic standing at the institution and must have completed at least one full academic year. Sports information directors nominate eligible athletes from their schools who are named to district teams prior to being voted upon on the national level.
CoSIDA has been selecting Academic All-America teams since 1952. District II covers Delaware, District of Coumbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
