COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Approximately 13,100 tickets have been sold by the University of Maryland for the 2004 Toyota Gator Bowl game in Jacksonville, Fla., athletics department officials said Saturday.
According to Larry Leckonby, senior associate athletics director, sales are moving briskly and the ticket office is steadily processing hundreds of new orders each day. "We're right on schedule to sell our allotment of tickets, since the game will be played on New Year's Day," said Leckonby.
Maryland received an allotment of 12,750 tickets for the game, and requested 4,250 more. Approximately 3,900 of the total allotment of 17,000 are remaining, Leckonby said.
The Terrapins will be facing West Virginia University in the game on Jan. 1, 2004, which will be televised nationally by NBC.
