Columbus, Ohio - Seniors Seth Stammler and Sumed Ibrahim were named to the 2003 College Cup All-Tournament Team for their performances against St. John's in the national semifinals. Despite their efforts, the Terps fell 1-0.
Stammler anchored a defensive unit that shut down the Red Storm for the majority of the game. The Terps controlled possession through the early parts of the first half and for a large portion of the second half. Stammler's ability to get the team organized and play over the top also helped Maryland outshoot St. John's 24-9.
Sumed missed portions of the semifinal game with a foot injury, but was still an integral part of the Maryland attack, particularly in the games waning minutes. Sumed's skill on the ball allowed for several close opportunities for teammates Jason Garey and Abe Thompson. He also was named to the All-Tournament team in 2002.
Maryland finished the season with a school-record tying 20 victories and its second consecutive College Cup appearance.
