CHANTILLY, Va. - TVWorldwide.com, a fast-growing web-based global TV network, announced that it would feature a series of three on-line "Fancast" interactive webcasts on University of Maryland Football Coach Ralph "The Fridge" Friedgen's FridgeTV.com Internet TV channel FridgeTV.com leading up to the January 1 Gator Bowl in Jacksonville Fla. The live events will let Maryland Terrapin Football fans around the world participate interactively with e-mail questions beginning 8:00 PM ET, each evening, Monday through Wednesday, December 29-31, 2003. The FridgeTV.com Internet TV channel has generated national interest from fans and the sports media, with its live and archived behind-the-scenes content of the University of Maryland Terrapins Football Program under Coach Friedgen.
Produced in a joint venture with Sportscaster and former NFL and University of Maryland kicker Jess Atkinson, FridgeTV.com has been in confidential development and testing throughout the 2003 season and was launched with a live webcast on November 1, after the homecoming victory over University of North Carolina during Coach Friedgen's post-game press conference at Byrd Stadium. Atkinson has been given unprecedented access by Friedgen during his production effort to facilitate the creation of intense, up close and personal video of the team throughout the season. Yahoo! Sports has also agreed to feature and promote the content in a separate distribution agreement with the University and TV Worldwide.com.
"In my opinion, FridgeTV is a whole new concept when it comes to the Internet and what it can do for a football program and I look forward to again meeting the fans on-line prior to the gator Bowl," said Coach Friedgen. "I think the exposure that our program will have from a marketing standpoint, from a recruiting standpoint, and the overall expression of what our program is will not be able to be equaled."
"These Gator Bowl Fancasts will again be an excellent opportunity for the fans to stay in touch with Maryland football," commented Atkinson. "The fancasts are a feature of the FridgeTV.com Internet TV channel that gives the fan first hand access to the coach, the team and the program."
"We're excited about working with Jess to bring this Gator Bowl Fancast element of the FridgeTV.com Internet TV channel to life in support of Coach Friedgen and the University of Maryland Football Program," stated Dave Gardy, CEO of TVWorldwide.com. "Thousands have now participated on-line during the first Fancasts and with accessibility to Jess and the Maryland Football program during the Fancasts leading up to the Gator Bowl we're again configuring our servers to meet a huge anticipated demand."
