ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Maryland women's gymnastics team lost to No. 3 ranked Georgia, 196.425-191.425, at the Stegeman Coliseum. Terp junior Sarah Hoenig tied for first place on the balance beam with a score of 9.800. Freshman Rachel Martinez finished fourth in the all-around competition with a 38.475. Martinez, the No. 33 gymnast in the nation in the all-around, also posted a high 9.825 on the floor portion of the meet.

The Bulldogs controlled the vault, led by Ashley Miller's 9.975. Martinez found success on the vault, notching a team-high 9.750. The bars proved challenging for Maryland as well. The Terps sized up well against the Bulldogs on the balance beam. Led behind Hoenig's 9.800, Terps Alexandria Gatch and Catherine Gardner also helped boost the team total with a 9.725 and a 9.650, respectively. As a team, Maryland is ranked No. 35 nationally on the beam.

Maryland, ranked No. 26 on the floor, scored the highest on this portion of the evening. Accumulating a team total of 48.400, Martinez led the Terps with a team-high of 9.825.
