
Terrapin Chrissy Fisher Earns ACC Co-Rookie Of The Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's Chrissy Fisher (Rumson, N.J.) has been named the ACC rookie of the week after shooting a combined .750 (9-12) mark from behind the 3-point arc in the Terps' two games this week. North Carolina's Nikita Bell earned ACC Player of the Week honors while UNC's La'Tangela Atkinson was named the Co-Rookie of the Week with Fisher.
Maryland guard Fisher had a record-setting week in games versus No. 7 North Carolina and NC State. Versus the Tar Heels, the Rumson, N.J., product recorded a career-high 20 points on 6-7 shooting from 3-point range. Her .857 mark from behind the arc set a new Maryland record. In an overtime victory over the Wolfpack, Fisher hit 3-5 from long range and tallied 13 points. She finished the week 9-12 (.750) from beyond the arc and pulled down 11 rebounds over the two-game stretch.
For the fifth time this season, North Carolina's Atkinson has been named ACC Rookie of the Week, an honor she shares this week with Maryland's Chrissy Fisher. The Tar Heel guard registered two double-doubles in three conference wins, boosting her season total to seven. The Bishopville, S.C., native averaged 9.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Atkinson is averaging 10.7 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds per contest.
North Carolina forward Nikita Bell earns this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors after leading the Tar Heels to three league victories last week. The sophomore from Columbus, Ga., averaged 21 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 steals in wins over Maryland, Virginia and Georgia Tech. At Maryland, Bell scored a career-high 30 points, the most by a Tar Heel in two seasons and led the team with eight boards. On the season, she is averaging 12.3 points (13.9 against ACC teams) and 5.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.2 percent from the field and a conference-high 52.9 percent versus ACC teams.
