Spring Football Cranks Up April 2nd

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland football team is getting geared up for the start of its 2003 spring practice session, something that Mother Nature wouldn't allow to happen in February.
The Terrapins -- who are coming off the second 11-win season in school history and their first bowl win since 1985 -- will hit the practice fields for the first time on April 2nd. Snow and weeks of bad weather put a stop to the originally scheduled practice dates which were set for February and now the team looks forward to some good spring weather and another successful offseason campaign.

This year's spring game will take place at Byrd Stadium on Saturday, April 26th at 4:00 p.m. The game will feature an autograph session with players at 3:00 p.m., games and prizes, while 94.7 FM "The Arrow" will be on site giving away even more prizes. Admission is free and the day is one of the featured events of "Maryland Day," a campus-wide event.
In addition to the Red-White game, there will be scrimmages held on April 12th and 19th with an approximate start time of 10:00 a.m. As is the case with all practices, scrimmages are open to members of the Terrapin Club, the Maryland Gridiron Network, former players and family members of players and those interested in attending should contact the football office (301-314-7095 or mdgridiron@hotmail.com) if planning to attend.
