University of Maryland is in a tie for seventh place after the first 18 holes of the 54-hole William & Mary Invitational here.
The second round was suspended due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning before the final round.
The Terps, the second-ranked District II team in the 18-team tournament, shot a 305 on the 6,781-yard, par-71 Kingsmill's River Course. Leading the way for Maryland was junior Tim Kane, who shot a one-over 72 and is in a tie for second place. Other Terp scores included junior Dan MacDonald (75), freshman Jeff Spradlin (77), senior John Moheyer (81) and freshman John Eades (83).
James Madison leads the field with a score of 298. The Dukes are followed by Liberty (299), Richmond (302), William & Mary (303),Georgetown (303) and Elon (304). Tied with Maryland in seventh with 305 totals are Navy and Lehigh.
Navy's Billy Hurley, the only player to break par, leads all individuals with a three-under 68. A group of four players, including Kane, are tied for second.
