No. 3 Maryland To Face No. 5 UMass In NCAA Quarterfinals At 12:30 p.m., This Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland-Massachusetts NCAA Men's Lacrosse Quarterfinal will face-off at 12:30 p.m., this Saturday, May 17, at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. The game will be the first of two games in a doubleheader with host Syracuse facing No. 4 seed Princeton in the second game at 3:30 p.m.

Both games as well as the games on Sunday, May 18 -- played at Towson -- will be aired live on Comcast SportsNet through a production agreement with ESPN Regional Television. The games will also air on many Fox SportsNet affiliates across the country (including Fox SportsNet New York, NESN and the Empire Sports Network)

The No. 3 seeded Terps advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time since 2000 with an 8-5 victory over No. 17 Ohio State on Sunday at Byrd Stadium. Senior captain Mike Mollot scored two goals and added an assist while the Terps' defense was stellar again. Senior captain Danny McCormick made 13 saves in the win as Maryland held Ohio State to one goal for the game's first 54:32.

No. 5 UMass advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the second year in a row with a 9-6 victory over Hofstra in Amherst, Mass. on Sunday. The Minutemen are 13-2 heading in the quarterfinals.

The game will be just the second-ever between the teams, as Maryland handed UMass a 13-4 defeat in the only previous game on May 8, 1983 in Amherst.

Saturday's game will be mark the Terps' second trip to the Carrier Dome this season, as they scrimmaged the Orangemen in mid-February.
