COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's soccer team, ranked No. 1 in the nation according to the College Soccer News preseason poll, will take on Major League Soccer's DC United in an exhibition game on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 7:30 p.m., at Ludwig Field.
"I am extremely excited and honored to play DC United," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "Last year was a great learning experience and a tremendous starting point for what turned out to be a great year. I am hoping this year's game will be of similar value for our team.
"It will be a great night for the entire soccer community to get up close and personal to both our players and the DC United players."
Admission for the game is free for students, $5 for adults, and $3 for children. Players from both squads will be available for autographs following the game.
Over 1,700 fans saw DC United defeat the Terps, 1-0, in last season's exhibition. Maryland begins training this week.
Maryland returns all 11 starters and virtually its entire roster from last season's NCAA semifinal squad. The Terps, picked to finish first in the ACC, begin their regular season Aug. 29 against Furman in the Creighton Tournament in Omaha, Neb.
