COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's soccer team is ranked second in the nation in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas preseason poll.
Defending champion UCLA, who ousted the Terrapins in the national semifinals in 2002, is ranked first. Those two teams are slated to meet this season in College Park at the Maryland/adidas Soccer Classic on Friday, September 5, at 8 p.m.
The Terps will take on DC United tomorrow, August 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the team's only exhibition game of the preseason.
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) was well-represented in the NSCAA/adidas poll, boasting five schools among the top 19: Wake Forest (fourth), Clemson (ninth), Virginia (14th) and North Carolina (19th).
Maryland will open the regular season on Friday, August 29, against Furman at the Diadora Challege hosted by Creighton. The Paladins are ranked 15th in the NSCAA/adidas preseason poll.
