For the first time in the program's history, the Maryland men's soccer team is ranked No.1 in the NSCAA/adidas Coaches Poll. The Terrapins knocked off the previous No.1 UCLA, 1-0, in front of a record crowd on Friday night at Ludwig Field.
The Terrapins (4-0) were ranked No.1 in other publications at various other times, including Soccer America last season and College Soccer News this season, but this is the first time that Maryland has cracked the top spot in what is the most highly-recognized soccer poll.
The Terps are the consensus No.1 team in all four major polls: NSCAA, Soccer America, College Soccer News and SoccerTimes.com.
