Terps Hit the Road for the First Time in ACC Play
* Tied for first in the ACC, Maryland is coming off of an ACC sweep last weekend defeating NC State in its conference opener and Virginia. The Terps hit the road for the first time in ACC play, traveling to Wake Forest on Friday, Jan. 9. That game was originally scheduled for a 7 p.m. start but has been rescheduled to an 11 a.m. tip off. The Demon Deacons host Middle School Day that morning.
* Maryland is 2-0 in ACC action for the first time in 10 years and is 10-3 overall, equaling its win total from a year ago and is off to its best start since the 2000-01 season. The Terps' only losses have come to teams ranked in the top 25.
Game Time Change
* The Terps first road ACC game at Wake Forest on Friday, Jan. 9 has been changed to an 11 a.m. tip-off. The Demon Deacons are hosting a Middle School Day, an event rescheduled from a previous game due to bad weather. That game was going to be broadcast by Johnny Holliday, the Voice of the Terps', on the Maryland Radio Network but has been cancelled. Another game will be scheduled at a later date.
Watch Out for Terps
* Second year head coach and 2002 Associated Press Coach of the Year Brenda Frese is known for her amazing turnarounds and another one seems to be in the midst in College Park. The Terps are already seeing improvement in just her second season. Maryland's 2-0 start in ACC play is its best in 10 years. The team is currently tied for first place with No.1/2 Duke and No. 13/13 North Carolina.
* With its 59-55 win over Virginia, Maryland picked up its 10th win of the season, equaling its win total of a year ago. Its 10-3 start is also its best since the 2000-01 season. * The Terps' 14-point win over the Cavaliers is also their biggest since a 75-54 win over NC State on Feb. 25, 2001.
* This season, the Terps are scoring more (71.2 vs. 67.4), shooting better from the field (.429 vs. .414) and from three-point land (.419 vs. .316). Maryland has also seen a lot of improvement from the charity stripe, leading the ACC at .734. Last year, it was second-to-last in the conference in that category at .616.
Last Time Out: Terps Top Cavaliers to Move to 2-0 in ACC Play
* Maryland used tough defense and rebounding to top ACC rival Virginia, 69-55, sweeping the ACC opening weekend. The Terps limited the Cavaliers, who are receiving votes in the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Polls, to 12 first-half points and led by as many as 28 points to claim the win and move to 2-0 in the league for the first time since the 1993-94 season.
* The Terps had four players in double figures with senior Delvona Oliver and freshman Shay Doron leading the way with 14 points and nine rebounds each. Senior Crystal Washington and junior Alli Spence each added 12 points.
* The Cavaliers had just one basket in the first nine minutes of play and shot just eight percent during that span, while the Terps ran out to a 14-2 lead. After the Wahoos cut the lead to within 14-8, Maryland closed out the half on a 20-4 run to take a 34-12 halftime break. The Terps' biggest lead of the game was a 40-12 advantage in the second half as Maryland cruised to the victory.
* Maryland dominated the boards, as well, tearing down 37 defensive rebounds and outrebounding Viriginia, 53-34, for the game.
* The win snapped a six-game Maryland losing streak to the Cavaliers. It was also the Terps' largest margin of victory since a 75-54 win over NC State on Feb. 25, 2001.

She was 8-for-15 from the field and also connected on her only two attempts from beyond the three-point line.
