COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland football team will take on ACC foe NC State at 3:30 p.m. on October 16 the Atlantic Coast Conference has announced. The game, which serves as the Terrapins' 2004 homecoming, will be televised regionally by ABC.
The Maryland-NC State series has turned into one of the team's most thrilling annual battles in recent years since Ralph Friedgen and Chuck Amato have taken over as head coaches at their respective alma maters.
In the last four years, Maryland has won by an average of four points with all four games going down to the wire. The 2000 affair was a double overtime thriller at Byrd Stadium. The 2001 game at Raleigh saw Maryland clinch the ACC Championship on a late touchdown drive led by Shaun Hill. The 2002 game at Byrd was won on a Nick Novak field goal as was last year's 26-24 win in Raleigh that gave the Terps the inside track to the Gator Bowl.
