Jackson Earns ACC Player of the Week Recognition

COLLEGE PARK. Md. - University of Maryland junior linebacker D'Qwell Jackson was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his play against Clemson last Saturday.

Jackson had a career-high 18 tackles in last weekend's 10-7 loss to Clemson. In earning the award for the second time this season, Jackson, a junior from Largo, Fla., also had two tackles for loss and a quarterback sack for the Terps. Jackson leads the ACC in tackles with 11.1 stops per game.

Below are the other recipients of this week's awards from the conference:

OFFENSIVE BACK
Miami quarterback Brock Berlin earned ACC Offensive Back of the Week for the second straight week after throwing for 265 yards and tying a school-record with five touchdown passes in Saturday's 45-31 win at NC State. The 6-2, 215-pound senior from Shreveport, La., tied the school record held by Bernie Kosar, Steve Walsh and Ken Dorsey. Berlin also ran six times for 13 yards and picked up two first downs.

OFFENSIVE LINE
Virginia guard Elton Brown helped the Cavalier offense to 348 yards rushing and 511 yards of total offense in Saturday's 37-16 win at Duke. In earning the award for the second time this season, the 6-6, 338-pound Hampton, Va., senior keyed an offense that rushed 61 times for 348 yards against the Blue Devils - the highest single-game total in six years.

DEFENSIVE BACK
Florida State's Ernie Sims keyed a Seminole defense that held Wake Forest to its lowest total offensive output (270 yards) in 16 games in Saturday's 20-17 win in Winston-Salem. In earning the award for a second-straight week, Sims, a sophomore linebacker from Tallahassee, Fla., had eight tackles, including two tackles for loss, one quarterback sack and a pass break-up as the Seminoles extended their winning streak to six in a row with the win.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Miami's Devin Hester returned two kickoffs for 129 yards, including a 100-yarder on the opening play of the game in the third-ranked Hurricanes' 45-31 victory over NC State Saturday. The 5-11, 185-pound Riviera Beach, Fla., native is third in the country in punt returns (26.1) and fourth in kickoff returns (31.7).

ROOKIE
Wake Forest defensive end Matt Robinson intercepted a pass and returned it 19 yards for the game's first touchdown in Saturday's 20-17 loss to Florida State. The 6-2, 226-pound freshman from Cedartown, Fla., also had seven tackles (five solo stops) including two for losses.
