COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland Terrapins take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in an Atlantic Coast Conference tilt on Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. at Ludwig Field. The Terps snapped their four-game winless streak on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Villanova, while the Tar Heels picked up a 3-0 win over UNC Asheville on Wednesday.
Maryland leads the all-time series with the Tar Heels, 35-21. However, it was UNC who knocked the Terps from their No. 1 ranking in 2003 with a 1-0 defeat in Chapel Hill.
In 56 meetings on the pitch, the two teams have never finished in a tie.

Scouting the Tar Heels
North Carolina, picked to win the ACC in the preseason poll conducted by the conference coaches, enter Sunday's contest with an overall record of 3-5-2 and a 1-1-0 record in ACC play. However, two of UNC's losses have come against teams that were unranked.
The Tar Heels are 2-4 in one-goal games this season, and are 0-1-2 in overtime games.
North Carolina is paced offensively by Marcus Storey, a 2003 All-ACC selection. Storey has three goals to go with five assists on the year. Corey Ashe has four goals on the year, including two game-winners for the Tar Heels. 2003 ACC Rookie of the Year Jamie Watson has two goals and two assists so far in his sophomore campaign.
The Tar Heels have a pair of talented keepers in Justin Hughes and Ford Williams. Hughes, who shut out the Terps a year ago, has made four starts on the year allowing seven goals in 379 minutes of work. Williams has started six games, surrendering 11 goals in 570 minutes. Williams got the start in UNC's most recent outing against UNC Asheville.
North Carolina is coached by Elmar Bolowich, who is in his 16th season with the Tar Heels. Bolowich owns a 188-103-18 record, and has coached his team to the 2000 ACC title and the 2001 NCAA title.
The last time North Carolina defeated Maryland in College Park was in 2000, when the Tar Heels came away with a lopsided 5-1 victory. Prior to this season's 4-2 loss at Wake Forest, that game against UNC was the last time the Terps gave up more than four goals in a game.
