The Maryland Terrapins take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Atlantic Coast Conference semifinals Friday night at 8 p.m. at the SAS Soccer Stadium. The Terps defeated Clemson 2-0 in the quarterfinals, while the Tar Heels advanced after a 2-0 win over NC State.
The Terps defeated UNC earlier this season, 1-0, in College Park. Domenic Mediate scored the game-winner in the 75th minute on an assist from Kenney Bertz.
The two teams are among the hottest in the league, as the Terps have won seven straight and the Tar Heels have won seven of their last eight.
In 57 meetings on the pitch, the two teams have never finished in a tie.
All four of the top seeds advanced in the ACC Tournament. Top-seeded Wake Forest defeated Virginia Tech and fourth-seeded Virginia downed Duke in first round action.
