Pete Hess ran to a 23rd place finish with a time of 31:20, and the Maryland men's cross country team finished in 12th place overall at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. Adam Ambrus finished second on the team followed his strong performance at the ACC Championships with a 48th place effort in the 23-team, 10k race at Penn State University.
No. 7 Georgetown took team honors with 49 points, American finished second with 63 points and the University of Pennsylvania took third with 112 points. Senior Rod Koborsi from Georgetown finished first with a time of 30:24 and fellow Hoya junior Chris Lukezic finished second with a time of 30:31. Sophomore Robert Curtis from Villanova finished third with a time of 30:33.
The top two teams from today's race, Georgetown and American, automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship competition, while the other competing teams will be eligible for at-large bids.
