COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland men's soccer team is the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will receive a first-round bye, as announced by the NCAA today. Ludwig Field will be the site for any game that Maryland plays in until the national semifinals, which will be held in Carson, Calif.
Maryland will face the winner of Seton Hall and Hofstra on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m. Seton Hall advanced to the finals of the BIG EAST Tournament, while Hofstra earned an automatic bid by winning the Colonial Athletic Conference Tournament.
The Terps are a top four seed for the third consecutive year. Maryland has advanced to the College Cup in each of the past two seasons.
"It's a tremendous honor for our program to be considered one of the top seeds again in this tournament," head coach Sasho Cirovski said. "It's a tribute to the players and the kind of season that we've had."
Five Atlantic Coast Conference teams made the field of 48, including top seed Wake Forest and fourth seed Virginia. North Carolina and Duke earned at-large berths into the tournament as well.
