ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman Kevin Vinh finished second at 125 pounds and Charlie Pinto placed third at 141 to help the Maryland Terrapins to an eighth place finish Saturday at the Cornell Body Bar Classic in Ithaca, N.Y.

Sixth-ranked Michigan won the tournament, followed by the 12th-ranked host, Cornell. The Citadel finished third and No. 19 Edinboro rounded out the top four.

Vinh advanced to the finals after a win over Cornell's Mike Rodriguez and Virginia's Adam Kimbrell. In the finals, Vinh fell to No. 16 Mark Moos of Michigan.

Pinto won three matches, including a win over third-seeded Patrick Simpson of Army in the quarterfinals, before falling to eventual champ Ron Doppeleuer of Edinboro. Pinto, though, bounced back in the consolation bracket and was able to come away with a 5-3 overtime victory over Simpson in the match for third place.

Ryan Brown (133) was one win away from a top-six finish. Brown went 2-2 on the day. Jason Kiessling (165) was also one win shy of placing at the tournament. After posting a first round major decision, Kiessling moved to the consolation bracket after a loss to sixth-ranked Ryan Churella of Michigan. He posted another win in the consolation bracket but was eliminated by the tournament's third seed Dan Thompson of The Citadel.

The Terps will be back in action next week at the Mat Town Invitational hosted by Lock Haven (Pa.).
