Coach Brenda Freese
On today's game
"We definitely showed it was our first home game today. There were a few bright spots, but it was clear that it is early on in the season and we have a long way to go. I like our effort, but I think with what we have ahead, we have to get a lot tougher and a lot smarter."
On inside game
"We definitely wanted to get the ball inside throughout the whole game. In the second half, our guards did a better job of delivering the ball, and our high-low passing was a lot more efficient. We became a lot more aggressive, and we started finishing lay ups. We're going to have to continue that and have our post players continue to step up like they did."
On defensive play
"They were an extremely patient team, and we gave them a lot of wide open shots. We have to be able to close out better, and keep people in front of us. We're going to get there; we'll be able to build from these games."
On this Friday's game against LSU
"We're going to have to be extremely tough; they're an extremely talented and athletic team. Every one of our players is going to have to come ready to play. We can't have one player on our roster take an off night. We're going to have to step up and defend people. They have a lot of weapons, and we're going to have to find a way to stop them."
On the play of the freshmen
"All of our freshmen are playing extremely hard. They are very talented. Each one of them would tell you that this is a different level, especially defensively, but they are really coachable, and they want to learn. All of them have extremely bright futures."
Freshman Forward Laura Harper
On second half play
"My teammates gave me a lot of confidence. I was really disappointed with my rebounding in the first half."
Freshman Forward Crystal Langhorne
On her play this season
"I played better offensively on Friday, but I didn't play good defense either game. I have a lot to work on, and it showed in both games. I need to improve in practice, and listen to my coaches."
Sophomore Guard Shay Doron
On the team's chemistry
"Our personalities match, which affects us on the court. We're great friends off the court; we really care about each other. I think that helps us become a better team and play together."
