Five Terps Honored By The ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Maryland Terrapins, who finished second in the ACC during the regular season, placed four players on the league's two all-conference teams. Jason Garey, Domenic Mediate and Abe Thompson were all named to the first team, while goalkeeper Noah Palmer was honored with second team honors. Freshman Stephen King was named to the league's All-Freshman team.
Maryland tied ACC regular season champ Wake Forest for the most honorees. The Terps open play at the ACC Tournament tomorrow against Clemson at 7:30 p.m. at the SAS Soccer Stadium in Cary, N.C.
Garey leads the team with 41 points on 16 goals and nine assists. He was a two-time ACC Player of the Week this season.
Mediate, who was a second team honoree in 2003, was third on the team in points with 20 (six goals, eight assists). Mediate scored three goals during conference play, including one game-winner.
Thompson, a first team selection in 2003, was again named to the first team despite missing six games with injury. Thompson has 10 goals on the year and six assists for 26 points.
Palmer, Maryland all-time leader in shutouts, has a 1.11 GAA and five shutouts in his senior campaign. He has started every game this season for the Terps and made 50 saves.
King has been a starter all season for the Terps. The midfielder has six goals and four assists on the season, which rank fourth on the team. He has three game-winners on the year.
