Men's Lacrosse to Gain National TV Exposure with Fox

Dec. 16, 2004

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Two games of the University of Maryland men's lacrosse season will be shown nationally as part of Fox College Sports network programming, director of athletics Deborah A. Yow announced today.

The games to be shown will include the Johns Hopkins at Maryland game on April 15, with the other game to be announced at a later date.

"The game with Johns Hopkins is always a highlight of the collegiate lacrosse schedule, and this is a wonderful opportunity to introduce this game and this sport to new lacrosse fans across the United States," said Yow.

Fox College Sports is three regionally aligned channels (FCS Atlantic, FCS Central, FCS Pacific) programmed for the 20 FSN and FSN-affiliated regional sports networks, and it features live college events from the ACC, SEC, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-10 and Big East. Based upon current distribution agreements, FCS is available to 40 million digital homes nationwide and is seen by viewers in the nation's 25 largest cities. For more information on FCS, viewers can log onto www.foxcollegesports.com.

Maryland returns its top four scorers from a team which finished 13-3 a year ago and reached the NCAA quarterfinals. The Terrapins, the ACC defending champions, finished the 2004 season ranked third in the USILA coaches poll.

"As the coach at the University of Maryland, I couldn't be happier for our players, coaches and administration," said Terp head coach Dave Cottle. "What a great opportunity to be able to showcase our program and the sport of lacrosse."
