
Terps Finish 13th At The 2004 Southern Scuffle

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Junior Jason Kiessling took third place Thursday afternoon to help the Maryland Terrapins to a 13th-place finish at the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C. Minnesota won the competition with 169 points, followed by Cornell (161.5), Navy (97.5) and Edinboro (89.5). The Terps tallied 31 points over the two-day event.
Kiessling, who has placed in three other tournaments already this season, won four matches in the consolation bracket to finish third at 165 pounds. He edged 19th-ranked Chris Stith in the sixth wrestleback, 3-2, before defeating Navy's Craig Dziewiatkowski 3-2 in the match for third.
Kevin Vinh (125) picked up a 2-0 win over Virginia Tech's Justin Staylor in the consolation bracket on Thursday before falling in the fifth wrestleback to Ryan Smith of Rider.
The Terps will be back in action on Sunday with three duals at the University of Missouri. Maryland will take on Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, at 1:30 p.m., Utah Valley State 3 p.m., and No. 13 Missouri at 5 p.m.
