COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Standing alone in third place in the ACC standings after defeating Wake Forest on Monday night, 73-56, Maryland (14-8, 6-5 ACC) hosts Florida State on Thursday night, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. With just two home games left on the schedule, the Terps have done a good job protecting their turf, going 11-2 this season, marking the most wins on their home floor since the 1996-97 season.
Maryland is one game ahead of the Seminoles (12-10, 5-6 ACC) in the ACC standings. The Terps broke open a four-point halftime lead over the Demon Deacons to cruise to the victory and take over third place. Senior Delvona Oliver (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) netted 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting to lead the Terps to the victory. Oliver has been stealing the show at home, averaging a team-leading 16 points per game in ACC games played at Comcast while averaging 10 ppg in all games.
Having enjoyed success this season in College Park, the Terps are outscoring their ACC opponents 71.3-63.5 in Comcast Center. They have also limited those opponents to 37.7 percent shooting en route to a 5-1 record. Maryland will be looking to avenge its early season loss to the Seminoles in Tallahassee, Fla., 82-77. The loss snapped a four-game win Maryland win streak and also gave the Terps their first ACC loss of the season.
Florida State comes to Comcast Center with a two-game win streak alive, having most recently defeated Clemson, 65-50. Prior to their win over the Tigers, the Seminoles recorded a historic triumph, shocking then-No. 2 Duke, 80-74. The win snapped the Blue Devils' 52-game win streak vs. ACC squads.
Thursday night also marks the last scheduled Family Night of the season. Families can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $20.
