CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - Ivory Latta had 13 points to lead five players in double figures, and No. 16 North Carolina beat Maryland 79-64 Thursday night.
Camille Little, Nikita Bell and Candace Sutton added 12 points each, and La'Tangela Atkinson 10 for the Tar Heels (19-5, 9-4 Atlantic Coast Conference).
Devona Oliver scored 14 points and Vicki Brick added 11 for the Terrapins (15-10, 7-7).
The teams tied four times and the lead changed three times in the first half, with North Carolina up 35-29 at the break. The Tar Heels took their biggest lead at 65-45 - on Latta's basket with 7:33 remaining.
Despite the win, North Carolina can do no better than a tie for the ACC regular-season title with No. 4 Duke, which beat Virginia 87-54. With three games left, the Blue Devils have a three-game lead over North Carolina, which lost twice to Duke this season.
