COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Terrapin women's basketball team is set to host No. 4 Duke on a national stage Sunday, Feb. 22 when the Terps and Blue Devils square off at noon in Comcast Center. The game will be nationally televised as the Terrapins look to earn their eighth conference victory of the year. More than 8,000 tickets have been distributed for the game.
Head coach Brenda Frese's squad is having one of the more successful seasons in recent history, as the Terps have an overall record of 15-10, and are 7-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Returning to the friendly confines of home, Maryland is 12-2 this season at Comcast Center, tied for the second-best record in the ACC. The Terps' conference mark has not dipped below .500 all season and they look to maintain that trend against the Blue Devils.
Sunday's game is also the last regular-season home contest of the year, and the senior class of Vicki Brick, Delvona Oliver and Crystal Washington will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
The freshmen duo of Kalika France and Shay Doron has ignited Maryland's offense and the two have led the team to more overall wins and ACC victories than each of the last two seasons. Doron leads the team in scoring, averaging over 12 points per game and France is a close second (11.7 ppg).
The Blue Devils (21-3, 12-1), ranked fourth in the nation, are coming off a victory against Virginia and are led by senior Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year finalists Alana Beard and Iciss Tillis.
