The Terrapin women's basketball team travels to Clemson to close out the regular-season slate on Sunday, Feb. 29, at 2 p.m. With just one game left in the season, the Terps' position among the ACC standings is still to be determined. Currently in fifth place, they still have the opportunity to finish as high as third, which would be Maryland's best showing since the 1996-97 campaign. The game also determines the final seedings for the upcoming ACC Tournament.
Maryland (15-11, 7-8 ACC) is coming off of a loss to No. 4/4 Duke, a game in which the Terps rallied to within seven points with less than five minutes left in the game, but eventually fell, 72-59. The game also featured a Comcast Center women's basketball crowd of 13,446, the second-largest attendance in ACC women's basketball history.
Delvona Oliver led the Terps vs. the Blue Devils with 16 points and seven boards. She was recognized during halftime of the NC State-Georgia Tech broadcast on Feb. 26 as one of the top five most improved players in the ACC. She has started every conference game for the Terps and is averaging 12.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game during those contests.
Clemson (17-8, 7-7 ACC) is currently on a two-game win streak heading into its contest vs. Duke on Friday, Feb. 27, after having dropped its pervious five games. The loss to the Terps on Jan. 29 began a five-game skid which was snapped on Feb. 19 vs. Georgia Tech. Lakeia Stokes is the team's leader in points (16.9), rebounds (7.2) and assists (3.8).
