COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's basketball team (14-8, 6-5 ACC) won a key ACC match up Monday night, defeating Wake Forest, 73-56, in front of over 2,600 fans at Comcast Center. Senior Delvona Oliver came up big for the Terps, scoring 20 points, while sophomore Chrissy Fisher connected on three three-pointers and finished with 15 points. Maryland will now look to extend its win streak Thursday night when it hosts Florida State.

Maryland now stands alone in third place in the ACC, behind only No. 2 Duke and No. 12 North Carolina. Fisher (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven), with her three treys, moved into fifth place all-time in Maryland's career annals with 69. The Terps pick up their 11th win at Comcast Center, the most on a home court since the 1996-97 season.

Oliver (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) was an outstanding 9-for-13 from the field and had five rebounds, a block and a steal in addition to her 20-point performance. Fisher and freshman Shay Doron (Great Neck, N.Y./Christ the King) were the other Terrapins in double figures, scoring 15 and 11 points, respectively. The duo also led the team in rebounds, grabbing eight.

Maryland scored the first seven points of the game before Porsche' Jones' basket at 16:34 put Wake Forest (10-12, 3-8 ACC) on the scoreboard for the first time. Leading 17-10, Maryland went on a 12-4 tear, taking a 29-14 advantage. However, the Deacons responded with a 16-6 run of their own to pull to within four points at halftime, as Maryland took a 35-31 lead into the locker room.

Maryland never trailed the game and gradually pulled away in the second half behind excellent three-point shooting. A 22-6 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Fisher, gave the Terrapins a 23-point advantage and their largest lead of the game, 70-47, with 4:27 left to play in the game. The best three-point shooting team in the ACC, the Terps shot over 40 percent from behind the arc for the game.

Terp freshman Kalika France (Forestville, Md./Bishop McNamara) also helped out offensively, contributing nine points, five rebounds and two steals.

Maryland's defense kept each of the Demon Deacon scorers under 10 points, and limited WFU to 32 percent from the field. The Terps also dominated the boards, outrebounding Wake Forest by a 48-39 margin.

Jones led Wake Forest with nine points, while Erin Ferrell had eight points and five rebounds.

Head coach Brenda Frese's squad returns to the court on Thursday night, when they host Florida State at 7 p.m. in Comcast Center.
