GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Maryland's Xander Ritz and North Carolina Jed Prossner were named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse Co-Players of the Week.
Ritz, a sophomore from Radnor, Pa., helped lead Maryland to a 14-5 victory over Georgetown, as he recorded three goals and four assists in his first game as a Terrapin. Ritz opened the Terps' scoring to start a 9-0 run as Maryland built a 9-1 halftime lead. He tallied the Terps' sixth goal, which was the eventual game-winner, in that run. He also assisted four other goals including the final goal of the game. Ritz's seven points were the most by any Maryland player in nearly two years.
Prossner, a native of Easton, Md., helped lead North Carolina to a 12-7 win over Massachusetts. The attackman tallied three goals and two assists for five points, just one point shy of his career-best. The junior had two early assists and then scored three goals early in the fourth quarter to put the game away for the Tar Heels.
