BALTIMORE, Md. -
Details have now been finalized about the well-publicized auction for the throw-back jerseys the Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland men's lacrosse teams will wear Saturday night (April 17) when the teams meet for the 100th time. Johns Hopkins will be wearing jerseys from the late 1960s/early 1970s, while Maryland will wear the same uniforms that the Terps wore in 1973, when they won their first NCAA Championship. A special patch commemorating the 100th game between the two teams has been added to each jersey.
There will be two locations within Homewood Field where fans can enter their bid on the throwback jerseys. Fans will be asked to fill out an index card with their name, address, phone number, uniform number that they are bidding on and the amount of their bid. The minimum bid for each jersey will be $50. Bids will be accepted from the time the gates open at 6:00 pm through the third quarter.
All bids will then be sorted by uniform number and the winners will be posted on each school's respective athletics web site on Monday (April 19) at 4:00 pm. Winners will be contacted by representatives of Johns Hopkins or Maryland notifying them that they have won and what the process will be to obtain the jersey.
All revenue generated from the auction will be donated to charity. Revenue from the Johns Hopkins jerseys will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center, while revenue generated from the Maryland jerseys will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Baltimore.
