GREENSBORO, N.C. - ACC regular-season champion Maryland placed three players on the 2004 All-ACC Men's Lacrosse Team released Thursday. Senior defensemen Chris Passavia (Stony Brook, N.Y.) and Lee Zink (Rowayton, Conn.) were joined by sophomore attacker Joe Walters (Rochester, N.Y.) as Maryland's honorees.

Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia each placed three representatives on the 2004 All-ACC Men's Lacrosse Team, while Duke added two members on the team. The All-ACC team is determined by a vote of the league's four head coaches.

Passavia earned All-ACC honors for the third year in a row. The two-time All-American leads the Terps in forced turnovers with 33 and had grabbed 25 groundballs. He has started all 10 games this season and also has two assists. Passavia has consistently sliced and diced opponents' top attackers throughout his career. He has led the Terps' defense which has been ranked No. 1 for most of the season. Passavia was a preseason first-team All-American this season and is on the 2004 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List as the top player in the sport.

A 2003 All-American, Zink earned his first All-ACC honor after a sensational regular-season. He is second on the Terps in both caused turnovers with 30 and in groundballs with 36. He has been a key to the Terps' defense which has allowed just 7.20 goals per game in 2004 and has been ranked the nation's best for most of 2004. Along with Passavia, Zink was also a preseason first-team All-American this year and is also on the 2004 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List as the top player in the sport.

The 2003 ACC Rookie of the Year, Walters is the ACC's leading scorer with 41 points and is tied for the league lead in goals with 27. His 4.1 points per game and 2.7 goals per game both rank in the top eight in the nation. Walters, who was an honorable mention All-American as a freshman, has seven hat tricks this season in 10 games and has scored in every game in 2004. Overall, he has 60 goals and 87 career points in just 26 career games.

There are only three members of this year's team who have been named to an All-ACC team in multiple years -- Maryland's Passavia and Virginia's Tillman Johnson are both three-time selections, while North Carolina's Jed Prossner was tabbed All-ACC for the second straight year.

ACC Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year honors will be announced on Tuesday, April 27.

The 2004 ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship will be held April 23 and 25 at the University of North Carolina. Top-seeded Maryland will face No. 4 Duke in the first semifinal at 6:00 p.m., while No. 2 North Carolina will host No. 3 Virginia in the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. The championship game will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
