COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head coach Sasho Cirovski today released the men's soccer schedule for the 2004 regular season. The Terps, who advanced to the Final Four for the second consecutive season last season, will take on eight teams that participated in the 2003 NCAA tournament. They will also face six teams that finished the season ranked in the last NSCAA poll. Maryland also welcomes ACC newcomer Virginia Tech to the schedule this season.

"Once again, I'm excited to release a very demanding and challenging schedule as has become the custom of Maryland soccer," head coach Sasho Cirovski said.

After opening the season at the Virginia/Nike Classic against Long Island and Marshall, the Terps will get a marquee match-up against St. John's at the fifth annual Maryland/adidas Classic in College Park. The Red Storm eliminated the Terrapins in the 2003 national semifinals. Maryland will also face local rival Georgetown during the tournament, and Penn State will also compete at the tournament.

The home schedule is highlighted by non-conference foes Loyola, Villanova, Virginia Commonwealth and Bucknell -- a team that halted Maryland's 23-game home winning streak in 2003. Also visiting Ludwig Field in 2004 will be ACC rivals Duke, North Carolina and Clemson. The game against the Tar Heels on Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. is on Family Weekend and the game against the Tigers on Oct. 31 is during Homecoming Weekend.

The Terps' road schedule includes conference games at NC State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Virginia, all of whom made the NCAA Tournament in 2003. Maryland will also travel to play William & Mary and Penn.

The ACC Tournament will be held once again in Cary, N.C., during the week of Nov. 10-14. The Terps won the tournament in 2002 and finished runner-up in 2003. The NCAA Tournament will begin on Nov. 19 and end on Dec. 12. The Final Four will be held in Carson, Calif., at the Home Depot Center.
