NEW HAVEN, Conn. -
The University of Maryland track and field team completed the first day of competition at the ECAC/IC4A Championships Friday in New Haven, Conn., on the campus of Yale University. Heather Houston and Labelle Hillgrove both scored points for the Terrapins, helping the team to a 19th-place standing after day one.
Houston was a sixth-place finisher in the heptathlon, earning 4,769 points and scoring three points for the Terrapins.
Hillgrove managed a 143-06 in the discus, good for eighth place and one point.
Justine Kovacs ran her best 5,000 meters of the season (17:22.20) and finished 19th in the event.
The Terrapin women stand in 19th place after the first day of competition with four points. ACC foe Duke leads the meet with 23 points.
