Terps Have Solid Outing At James Madison Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The University of Maryland track and field teams completed the first day of competition at the James Madison Invitational Saturday in Harrisonburg, Va., turning in several solid performances. Action at the meet continues Sunday at the JMU Track and Field Complex.
Distance events dominated the first day at James Madison, as five running events (800 meters, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 1,500 meters, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters) took place. Three field events (men's/women's hammer throw and women's javelin) were also completed.
In the women's 1,500-meter run, Danielle Siebert just missed finishing in the top-10, coming in at No. 11 with a time of 4:40.58.
Labelle Hillgrove had a solid performance in the women's hammer throw, finishing fifth (133-09). Bria Johnson finished in seventh place in the event with a throw of 131-01. Heather Houston was sixth in the javelin throw (99-10).
For the men, Adam Ambrus led the team in the running events with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (8:42.98), while Mike Fleg finished the 1,500-meter run at No. 21 (4:01.79).
John Collins had another solid showing in the hammer throw, finishing second (181-00. Beau Fay was right behind him in third place (174-10).
