The Maryland men's and women's cross country teams, competing at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational on Saturday, each finished with a 2-2 mark in dual meet competition. The men's team defeated host Mount St. Mary's (17-46) and UMBC (25-36) and fell to event-winner Navy (18-42 and 22-39). The Maryland women topped UMBC (21-35) and Mount St. Mary's (17-42), while falling to Navy (20-42) and American (24-31). Three Terp men finished among the event's top eleven runners, led by Nathaniel Zola's fifth place finish of 15:52.90. Adam Ambrus (15:54.94) and Pat Bailey (15:59.28) finished in ninth and eleventh place, respectively. In the women's 5k run, Maryland's Meghan Braffet registered the Terps' best overall finish, crossing the finish line in second place, with a time of 18:19.03. Katie Purcell (19:10.59) finished in 10th place among the event's 63 competitors. The team will next travel to Harrisonburg, Va. for the James Madison Invitational on September 18th.
