Four University of Maryland football players will be participating in postseason all-star games this weekend. Seniors Domonique Foxworth, C.J. Brooks, Kyle Schmitt and Nick Novak will all be displaying their wares in hopes of impressing NFL scouts who will be on hand.
Brooks and Foxworth are both in San Francisco at the 80th annual East-West Shrine game which will take place at SBC Park. Both players will be representing the East squad and will be wearing the same numbers they wore for the Terps (Foxworth, 6; Brooks, 74). The game will air on ESPN at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15.
Earlier in the day, the duo's teammates will be playing back on the east coast as Novak and Schmitt will be suiting up in The Villages Gridiron Classic in The Villages, Florida. Novak (the ACC's all-time leading scorer) and Schmitt (the Terps' top-rated lineman the last two seasons) will be playing for the North squad. Schmitt will be wearing No. 72 as he did in college while Novak will be wearing No. 13. The game will air live on ESPN2 at 11:00 a.m.
The foursome are amongst a number of Terps who hope to have their name called at the 2005 National Football League draft. This week's draft will take place on April 23rd and 24th - one week before the Terrapins' 2005 Spring Game - in New York City's Madison Square Garden.
