COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Terrapin freshman Crystal Langhorne was named ACC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, which was announced by the conference today. She earns the honor for the second time this season after averaging 23 points and 7.7 rebounds in three games last week.
A center/forward, Langhorne (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) posted three-straight 20+ point games, helping the Terps to a 2-1 week. She recorded her fourth double-double of the season in the opening contest of the Terrapin Classic vs. UMass, netting a career-high 26 points, 21 in the second half, and 10 rebounds. She followed up with 20 points on 6-for-9 shooting and six rebounds in the championship game vs. Marshall, en route to tournament Most Valuable Player honors. In her first-career ACC contest, she posted a game-high of 23 points and added six rebounds at Virginia Tech.
Langhorne was voted Rookie of the Week earlier this season on Dec. 6, 2004, when she posted back-to-back double-doubles vs. Xavier and St. Bonaventure. It is the third time this season a Terrapin has earned the award. Classmate Laura Harper was selected on Nov. 29, 2004.
The Terps return home to host fifth-ranked North Carolina on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on Fox Sports Net and Comcast SportsNet in the Washington D.C./Baltimore area.
