Maryland and No. 4 Virginia will continue one of college soccer's most intense rivalries Wednesday night at Ludwig Field at 8 p.m. Maryland comes into the game having won five straight while Virginia is undefeated in ACC action and is unbeaten in its last seven games.

The Terrapins (10-3-0, 4-1-0 ACC) notched a pair of convincing wins last week cruising past Georgetown 6-0 on Tuesday, and picking up a 4-1 win over No. 10 North Carolina on Friday night. The Terps have knocked off six-straight ranked opponents this season.
Virginia will come into Wednesday's showdown against the Terps with a record of 10-1-2 on the year and a perfect 5-0-0 in ACC action. The `Hoos are atop the ACC standings and are the only unbeaten team in conference action.
The Terps and `Hoos have met in the ACC Tournament finals in each of the past three seasons. In each of those seasons, however, the winner of the regular season matchup has failed to capture the ACC Tournament title.
The Week That Was
Maryland picked up a pair of convincing victories last week, outscoring its opponents 10-1 in wins over Georgetown and No. 10 North Carolina.
Maryland jumped on the Hoyas early with three goals in the game's first 12 minutes. Jason Garey, Stephen King and Maurice Edu tallied goals to help put the game away early. Marc Burch and Robbie C'deBaca pushed the Terrapin lead to 5-0 before the intermission and Graham Zusi scored in the second half for the 6-0 win.
Maryland improved to 26-0-0 all-time vs. Georgetown.
Against the Tar Heels, the Terps took advantage of some early chances and then pulled away in the second half to defeat No. 10 North Carolina, 4-1.
Despite good chances by the Tar Heels in the early going, the Terps notched the game's first goal on an opportunistic score by Robbie Rogers. Just under two minutes later, Chris Lancos scored his first goal of the year after Maurice Edu chested a cross from A.J. Godbolt. Edu would later put away his own attempt on a cross from Godbolt and Jason Garey scored a highlight-reel goal on a one-on-one move outside the box. UNC got its lone goal late in the second half after a red card, but could not mount any more of a charge in the game.

Maryland has assisted on all but six goals this season, led by A.J. Godbolt's career-high nine assists this season. Godbolt is one assist shy of cracking Maryland's top 10 for assists in a season.
Stephen King is second on the team with six assists.
Maryland has 38 assists on 36 goals on the year.
Thirteen different players have an assist this season.
Start Me Up
The Terps are 10-0-0 this season when scoring the game's first goal. Maryland is outscoring opponents 19-6 in the first half this season.
In all three of Maryland's losses, not only have the Terps not gotten a lead, they have given up a goal in the game's first 10 minutes. Maryland has only given up four second half goals this year.
Fantastic Four Years
Maryland's 67 victories since 2002 are second most in a four-year span at Maryland. In fact, with a minimum of six games left (five regular season, at least one ACC Tournament game), the Terps are two wins shy of setting the record.
The success extends beyond victories as the Terrapins have advanced to the national semifinals and have played in the ACC Tournament finals in each of the past three seasons.
Feast Or Famine
In each of Maryland's three losses, the Terps have been shut out. In the Terrapin wins, though, Maryland is averaging over three goals a game (3.60).
For Starters...
Through 13 games, head coach Sasho Cirovski has utilized 10 different starting lineups. Eighteen different players have cracked the starting lineup this season.
Of the four players that have started every game, three of those are seniors (Kenney Bertz, Michael Dello-Russo, Jason Garey). The fourth is Stephen King, who has started every game Maryland has played in the last two seasons.
Virginia At A Glance
The `Hoos enter Wednesday's game with a record of 10-1-2, including a perfect 5-0-0 mark in ACC action.
UVa is unbeaten in its last seven games, with the only blemish being a 2-2 tie against Monmouth.
Virginia has one of the top forward tandems in the conference in freshman Yannick Reyering and Adam Cristman. The two have 17 of UVa's 26 goals on the year (Reyering 10, Cristman 7).
Jeremy Barlow leads the team with seven assists. Barlow scored the game-winner against Maryland at the ACC Tournament last season and was named the tournament MVP. Chris Tierney is second on the team with five helpers.
Sophomore midfielder Nico Colaluca was one of the nation's top freshmen a season ago earning ACC freshmen honors and a spot on Soccer America's All-Freshman team.
Junior Ryan Burke is in his third year as a starter in goal for UVa. The keeper was the hero in the 2003 ACC Tournament as he saved the game-deciding penalty kick in the shootout for the title. This season, Burke has 34 saves and has allowed just nine goals in 1,224 minutes (0.66 GAA).
Last Season vs. Virginia
The Terps split two meetings with UVa last season, defeating the `Hoos 1-0 in the regular season but dropping a 2-1 decision at the ACC Tournament.
Senior Jason Arnold scored with just over four minutes to play in regulation allowing Maryland to edge Virginia 1-0 at Klockner Stadium in the regular season.
At the ACC Tournament, Virginia scored a pair of second half goals and held off a late Terrapin rally as the Cavaliers captured the ACC title, 2-1, at SAS Stadium. Jason Garey scored the lone goal in the Terp loss.
Defender Chris Lancos had an assist in each of Maryland's games against Virginia.
Series History vs. Virginia
Maryland leads the all-time series against Virginia, 32-24-7. The two teams split in two meetings last year.
Maryland and UVa have played six times in the past three seasons. The Terps have the slight edge with a 3-2-1 advantage, although Virginia won in penalty kicks in the tie at the ACC Tournament.
The Terps defeated the `Hoos, 1-0, the last time the two teams met at Ludwig Field in 2003.
Chris Lancos scored the game-winner. UVa's last win at Ludwig Field was in 2001, a 3-0 decision for Virginia.
Home Sweet Home
The Terps have had remarkable success at Ludwig Field posting a 44-3-1 (.922) record in three plus seasons, including a perfect 13-0 mark in 2002 and 7-0-0 record this season.
That record also includes an 8-0-1 mark during the NCA A Tournament which has helped Maryland reach three straight College Cups. (The Terps advanced on penalty kicks, 5-4, after tying Creighton in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.)
Maryland won 23 straight games at home between 2002-03, the fourth-longest streak in NCAA history.

For the first time since the Terps started playing at Ludwig Field in 1995, Maryland averaged over 2,000 fans per game during the 2004 season.

Men`s Soccer Program Contributes To Katrina Victims
The Maryland men's soccer program helped raise over $2,000 for the Hurrican Katrina relief effort.
Each player contributed $20, and Sasho Cirovski chipped in $500, meaning the men's team itself donated over $1,000.
On Friday, Sept. 9 vs. Santa Clara, the women's team collected donations during the game to bring the total over $2,000.
