COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Athletics, in conjunction with College Sports Television (CSTV) and Atkinson & Co., announced the launch of the new FridgeTV webpage on www.umterps.com, the Official Site of Maryland Athletics. The direct web link is www.umterps.com/fridgetv.
"FridgeTV has provided wonderful marketing and recruiting exposure for our program," said head coach Ralph Friedgen. "This new site offers an even better look at the daily lives of our coaches and student-athletes."
FridgeTV is the brainchild of former Terrapin and NFL placekicker-turned-broadcaster Jess Atkinson. He has unprecedented access to the Terps' football program -- from the practice fields, to the locker room, to the weight room, to road trips, to press conferences and media events. In addition to the classic Real Terps weekly videos, the new site features include special programming, archived editions of the Outback Steakhouse Ralph Friedgen Coaches Show, Football 101, photo galleries, a blog and more.
"Maryland was the first collegiate program in the nation to offer this type of web-based video content when the original site was launched before the 2003 football season," said Michael Lipitz, Senior Associate Director of Athletics. "Two years later, we're excited to bring the behind-the-scenes concept to a broader audience as a key component of our official athletics website."
UMTerps.com had more than 24 million page views and 200,000 unique visitors over the past year.
"It's been exciting to see the growth of FridgeTV over the past few years," commented Atkinson. "We have a loyal online following and look forward to continuing to deliver the type of innovative content that Terps fans can't find anywhere else."
Fans are invited to visit www.umterps.com/fridgetv daily for new features and content.
