Terps Come In Second At IC4A/ECACs

    Senior Cori Koch and Laurel Jefferson finished sixth and seventh overall, respectively, as the women's cross country team finished second at the IC4A/ECACs Saturday in Bronx, N.Y.

    The Terps closed out their remarkable season on a strong note, beating LaSalle and Duke's B-Team, among others, and falling only to Cornell. Koch and Jefferson led the way for Maryland, which improved drastically on last year's 11th place showing. Koch came in six place with a time of 18:09.70. It was the fiftth time she has been Maryland's top finisher this season. She was followed in seventh by Jefferson, who crossed in 18:12.90. The pair finished 1-2 for the Terps at every competition in 2005.

    They, along with Katie Purcell who placed 20th (18:39.60), earned All-East honors for their performances at the 5K Van Cortlandt Park course.

    Also for Maryland, sophomore Meghan Braffet came in 30th overall in 18:50.60. Senior Allison Carney finished soon after in 32nd place (18:51.10) and freshman Kylynn McKinley crossed in 19:21.60, good for 55th.

    Rounding out the Terps' afternoon was senior Shari Gorga, who finished in 63rd place with a mark of 19:36.60.
